Cool Bike Shops. Woodstock Cycleworks, Cape Town
Esiste in Sud Africa un luogo dove si respira tutta la passione per la bicicletta, non è un semplice negozio ma un vero e proprio punto di aggregazione, dove poter fare acquisti, riparazioni, chiacchierare o bere un caffè. Si chiama Woodstock Cycleworks e prende il nome dall’omonimo quartiere di Cape Town.
Situato in un vecchio capannone con la facciata in mattoncini e il grande spazio interno dove dominano le travature in legno del soffitto, l’ambiente e completamente invaso da centinaia di biciclette ed accessori. Sono appese al soffito ed alle pareti, e molte fanno parte della collezione di bici d’epoca, realizzate dalle case produttrici sudafricane degli anni passati.
Ma lo spirito che anima i proprietari Nils & Suzanne Hansen, è riassunto nelle loro belle parole di presentazione…
” Every neighbourhood needs a kid and every kid needs a bike and every bike needs some love so to bring it full circle we’re launching a neighbourhood bike shop with the name Woodstock Cycleworks above the door. It’s a shop for big kids and small kids.
What kind of bikes you may ask? We love bikes, all bikes, but particularly your bike and the one that’s been gathering dust in the back of the shed. Those neglected beauty’s waiting for some air in their tires, a drop of oil to ease that squeak and a road to strut all fancy pants down.”
